Tule mukaan kierrättämään Suomi-yhteisömme hyväksi!

Ensi kerralla Suomi-koulussa 15.10. kierrätämme tarpeettomia tai pieneksi jääneitä lastenvaatteita. Tuo omat, hyväkuntoiset lastenvaatteesi ja hae tilalle uusia. Tilaisuus järjestetään Suomi-koulun hyväksi. Voit jättää 50 penceä-2 puntaa/vaate keräyskuppiin mielesi mukaan.

Vaatteet voi tuoda ison salin korkealle tasolle lajiteltuina iän mukaan. Tuon myös rekkitangon ja henkareita takeille ja muille vaatteille.

Vaatteiden esillelaitto ja päivän päätteeksi myymättömien vaatteiden haku on lahjoittajan vastuulla. Kirkolle jätetyt vaatteet viedään keräyslaatikkoon.

We will be recycling children’s clothes during the next Saturday school on the 15th October. Bring your unwanted good quality children’s clothes or pop over to grab a bargain! The clothes will be available in the big hall and any profits will go towards the school. The clothes are priced at 50p-£2/item.

TERVETULOA to the sixth year of the Finnish Saturday School in Cardiff! We’ve got new, qualified teachers for the two children’s groups and a whole lot of exciting events happening this year!

Our premises by the Capel Salem are located on Market Road opposite Chapter Arts Centre. The church has got parking for about 8 cars inside the gated area, which is reserved for our use only and there is parking on the roads nearby (be aware of the residents’ parking) and Chapter Arts Centre car park. There is a bus stop on Cowbridge Road East (called Canton Police Station or Chapter Arts), two minutes’ walk from the church. Bus service numbers 17 and 18 from Cardiff city centre leave every five minutes and the bus journey takes about ten minutes.

Lessons last from 10.30am until 12.30pm with a 15 minute break at around 11.30am. Due to security reasons we close the doors at 10.30am – please ring the doorbell or call/text your teacher if you’re running late. During the break you can, for a small donation, buy a cup of tea, coffee or juice and biscuits or cake. We also have Finnish sweets for sale. Our library has Finnish language children’s books and DVDs available to take home.

The school’s Facebook page (Cardiffin Suomi-koulu) is also kept up to date with information including any forthcoming social events.

Ensi koulukerralla on tiedossa vappurieha – karnevaali/naamiaisvaatteet päälle! Nähdään serpentiinin ja hauskan merkeissä 30. huhtikuuta!

16.1. Suomi-koulussa pidetaan teatteriesitys ja teatteri-työpaja mehu/kahvitaukoineen lapsille. Liput Suomi-koulun tavallisen maksun sijaan ovat £10 per lapsi. Esitys alkaa klo 11. Alle 2-vuotiailta eikä aikuisilta peritä maksua mutta olisi hyvä, jos pienemmät lapset istuisivat aikuisten kanssa. Liput kannattaa ostaa etukäteen kahvilasta Virpiltä sillä esitystä katsomaan tulee lapsia myös Bristolista ja Swanseasta. Lippuja on myynnissä vain rajoitettu määrä – esityksen jälkeiseen työpajaan mahtuu vain 30 lasta. Puolet lipuista on nyt myyty.

Höpönlöpöä! -esitys antaa lapsen näkökulman tilanteeseen, jossa hän ei ymmärrä ukkinsa outoa kieltä, mutta haluaisi oppia sen. Esitys vie katsojat mukaan interaktiiviseen teatterielämykseen jossa yleisön tehtävänä on auttaa päähenkilöä selviämään seikkailun aikana kohdatuista haasteista. Esitys käsittelee kieltä, identiteettiä ja kirjallisuuden merkitystä abstraktin tarinan muodossa. Näytelmään liittyvä draama-työpaja puolestaan käy läpi esityksen eri aihealueita ja antaa osallistujille mahdollisuuden käsitellä esityksessä esille tulleita kysymyksiä draaman avulla.

Esitys on Suomi-seuran sponsoroima ja lipputulot käytetään tilan vuokraan ja esiintyjien maksuihin.

Finn-Guild is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year! This calls for a big celebration for all members in both Finland and the UK.

On the 28th of November, events under the theme of ‘One Finn-Guild’ are organised across both Finland and the UK. The main event will take place at the Finnish Institute in London’s Kings Cross and we are organising our own event in Cardiff! It will be connected to the events in other cities via Skype or another medium, so that participants in London, Manchester and Tampere can toast the 50-year-old Finn-Guild together!

The event takes place in the Clayton Hotel at the end of St Mary Street in Cardiff, just a short walk from the train station, between 4pm and 6pm.

The free tickets are available to book in advance from Finn-Guild. The venue only allows a maximum of 40 adults and 20 children so make sure you let them know if you’d like to join the celebrations! Book early to avoid disappointment.

To cover extra costs we will be organising a raffle. Please bring any Finland-related prizes!

The programme also includes a speech from Sari Kamppi, who is representing Finn-Guild, a Finn-Guild -related quiz, entertainment for children and a musical performance from an artist from Bristol. There will also be nibbles and bubbly available for adults and a children’s buffet with juice.

If you can come down a little bit earlier to set everything up, please let us know!
